Rappelling

Rappelling, also known as abseiling, is an adventure activity that involves descending down a vertical surface such as a cliff, rock face, or artificial wall using a rope and specialized equipment. It is widely practiced in outdoor adventure sports, mountaineering, rescue operations, and military training. Participants control their descent by applying friction to the rope through a device attached to their harness, allowing them to move down safely and at a controlled speed.

Rappelling requires a combination of technique, confidence, and focus rather than pure physical strength. Before descending, participants are trained in proper body positioning, rope handling, and safety procedures. The activity often begins with smaller heights for beginners and gradually progresses to higher and more challenging descents. It provides an exhilarating experience as individuals overcome fear of heights and build trust in their equipment and skills.

This activity can be performed in natural environments such as mountains, waterfalls, and cliffs, as well as on artificial structures designed for training. Rappelling is often included in adventure camps and team-building programs because it encourages courage, self-confidence, and teamwork. With proper supervision and adherence to safety guidelines, it is a safe and rewarding activity suitable for a wide range of participants.
